The Citadel Game
The Citadel is a 2D multiplayer space exploration strategy game set in a persistent world on the Ethereum blockchain. Players pilot spaceships across a star map to seek out ore in distant asteroid belts as either a fortune-hunting space miner or a cutthroat marauder.
In Citadel, NFTs represent game items that interact to generate, claim, steal, burn, and exchange tokens. These tokens represent the game’s economy and are used to purchase in-game assets.
The game is set in a persistent world, meaning that the game state is stored on the blockchain and players can continue playing even after they have died.
The Citadel expands on current state-of-the art P2E concepts to add limited-resource staking pools with different risk/reward propositions and a fully on-chain realtime player positioning system.
This realtime player positioning system ensures that all transactions are executed in an order that is fair and transparent to all participants. This system prevents cheating and ensures that the game’s economy operates as intended.
Game Playstyles
The game features two different playstyles: mining and piracy. Mining is the more peaceful option where players search for ore in asteroid belts and sell it on the open market for profit. Piracy is the more dangerous option where players attack other ships and steal their ore.
The game has a complex token economy where players can earn, spend, and trade tokens for goods and services. The stakes are high, risk is real, and player strategy drives the economy.
The player’s objective is to manage their resources and expand their empire by exploring the galaxy for new asteroids to mine. They must also protect their assets from other players who are looking to take what they have earned.
Citadel DAO
The Citadel governance model is based on decentralization and community first principles. This means that the DAO will be trustlessly handed ownership of the game contracts and the treasury will be funded with a full 70% of the proceeds of the mint.
This ensures that the Citadel community has a strong voice in the direction of the game and that there is a healthy incentive for holders to participate in governance. The reduced owner privileges also help to ensure that the game remains truly decentralized.
Spaceships
There are three types of ships in the game: frigates and interceptors, barges and cruisers, and command and battleships. Frigates are the smallest and weakest, while battleships are the largest and strongest.
Each type of ship has a different purpose, and they each start with different traits. For example, frigates may have better engines or armor than other ships, while cruisers may have more weapons. Battleships may have stronger engines or armor and have more weapons.
Citadel Regions
The five regions that have been identified by the Citadel’s government are: Frontier, Providence, Ouroboros, Outer Ring, and Abyss.
Each region has its own unique set of characteristics, with some regions more conducive to mining and others being more prone to criminal activity.
The main factors that dictate these variations are the availability of resources and the power dynamics between the miners and marauders.
Conclusion
A player’s success in the game depends on their ability to make shrewd decisions about where to explore, what resources to collect, and how to use those resources to strengthen their position in the game.
The Citadel’s complex economic system rewards players who make clever use of its in-game currency, which can be used to buy better ships, equipment, and other upgrades.
The Citadel offers a rich and rewarding experience for players who are looking for a challenge. With its dynamic economy and ever-evolving game world, the Citadel provides an exciting gaming experience that is unlike anything else available on the blockchain today.
