Many years ago, a group of scientists created a collection of robots as a memory of humanity’s impact on Earth. These robots lived with man and helped rebuild society in the New World. The scientists were impressed by what the species had accomplished together.
When the humans returned after a long hiatus, they found that society had collapsed. The Drought had caused all of the water to disappear, and what was once a thriving city was now a wasteland. The humans found shelter in the city and named it Solana. They saw the blood red sun set for the first time in a decade and made it their home.
The scientists were horrified by the damage their invention had caused. In an attempt to make up for their mistake, one of them released a dangerous chemical compound into the air. Within days, the contagion had spread among the robot population, causing them to act strangely and look hideous. The Infected were confined to the outskirts of Solana and were shunned by robots and humans alike. There, they multiplied in numbers.
